IIT Kanpur showcases a stunning fashion and glamour show.
Antaragni is the annual cultural festival of IIT Kanpur held every year in the month of October. It is one of the biggest college fest of North India and every year hundreds of students showcase their talent in this gathering. Of the many events in this 4-day long fest, the most glamorous eagerly awaited event is Ritambhara – the reputed fashion show event and the largest and most sought-after college fashion event in the country. Many fashion based and non-fashion based college teams participate in the event and showcase their creative designs. Ritambhara is known its electric environment – packed audiences and an entertaining show.
Team Event
Ritambhara’14 saw 12 colleges from all over the country participating to win the coveted show at IIT Kanpur. The event comprised of two rounds across two days – on day 1, there was a prelims round where 6 teams were selected out of the 12 participating teams and on day 2 the finale round where these top 6 teams battles it out for the top 2 spots. After two thrilling rounds, NIFT Delhi was declared the winner of Ritambhara’14 followed by Lady Irwin College at a close second.

The judge of Ritambhara’14 comprised of Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor, Miss India Earth Prachi Mishra, Dr. Ritwij Bhowmick – professor of fine arts at IIT Kanpur, Hemant Sud – ace photographer and publisher of Abraxas NU, Nilotpal Sinha – lead photographer at Abraxas NU and young fashion designer Sujit Meher.

Apart from the winners of the team event, the judges also chose the most promising male and female models among the 6 finalist teams. The winners were:
- Best male model – Gaurav Karir, Ramjas College, Delhi
- Best female model – Pemila Lama, St. Xavier’s’ College, Kolkata
They received the titles of Mr. and Miss Ritambhara’14 respectively. The winners received huge laurels and modeling assignments and portfolio shoots by our sponsors.
Mr. & Miss Impresionante
Impresionante is another event of Antaragni which seeks out models among the crowd. It is an individual event based on the lines of the Mr. and Miss India Contests that searches for beauty, grace and personality.
This year, the event had 2 preliminary rounds – in the first round, the contestants walked the ramp displaying outfits based on ‘Elegant Dressing’ theme while in the second round, the contestants displayed ‘Casual/Funky’ outfits. After two rounds, the top 5 male and the top 5 female models were selected for the Q&A round where each contestant was asked two questions by the judges.
After 3 rounds of tough competition, Khalid Alawaneh was crowned Mr. Impresionante and Bishakha Thapa was crowned Miss Impresionante, both from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi.
