Myths vs Facts
While fillers have become an integral part of all anti-aging and beautification procedures, there is still a lot of stigma and apprehension attached to them.
A common concern shared by many clients is whether the facial aging will worsen once the fillers wane off. The fact is that fillers will never aggravate the sagging/aging.
Another concern is the need for repeated injections at short intervals to maintain the results. The fact is dermal fillers need to be repeated only once in eight to nine months or even one to one-and-a-half years depending upon the areas of concern and activity levels of a person.
A common myth is that treatment should be delayed till the age of 40 or 50. The fact is that the fillers are used not only for but also for rejuvenation/enhancement of facial tissue. A tear trough or a lip augmentation can be a common treatable indication in young clients as well.
Fear of injections and pain often defers people from undergoing the treatment. However the fact is that all HA fillers have lidocaine (anaesthetic) that considerably reduces pain of injections if administered by experienced hands.
A frozen look or loss of facial expression is usually the result of over-correction or over-use of product. One can achieve a very natural look with adequate amount of product.
All HA fillers have the advantage of being reversible. They can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if required.
The majority of the side effects post – procedure such as bruising, lumps or swelling are transient and manageable.
The outcome of any filler procedure depends on the expertise of the injector and quality of product used. Always consult a qualified and experienced doctor for these procedures.
A detailed discussion about one’s concerns and the realistic outcome that can be achieved is very important.
Ensure that the best quality fillers are use and the treatment is done in a hygienic environment. Always follow the post procedure after care, such as avoidance of massage and laser treatment over the treated area for a month.
An open and detailed discussion with the doctor will help to reduce the fear of treatment and ensure best results.
