A futuristic avant Garde collection inspired by Lady Gaga.
The students of Axis Institute Of Fashion Technology, Kanpur, came up with a fresh collection which is not only promoting synthetic rexine industries of Kanpur but is also successful in providing the fashion industry with the most innovative design collection, providing new ideas for the future trends.
Garima Chaturvedi, a young designer who was the brain behind the collection made a number of boards with the belief that this collection will go a long way. Using innovative futuristic materials and applying skills in making these garments and accompanying accessories, footwear, headgear, spectacles and makeup according to the theme. Using wire frames has once again created a Gaga vibe on the collection. This collection was technique and technology driven in its execution.
The alien warrior – The shields and robotic structures made by rubber piping, metal wire frames, foil printed rexine gave an extra futuristic look to this style.
The brain systems – The receptor mechanism of the neurons and the entangled grey matter was the inspirational element of this dress.
Behind the inspiration and creation
Working on Avant Garde fashion, the students took inspiration from the one person who has not only been a living inspiration for adopting Avant Garde fashion but has been futuristic in her real life personality – Lady Gaga, a name that came into the fashion industry after people noticed her extraordinary talent to express herself fearlessly through her music, piano and unforgettable stage shows, a person who has been both criticized and idolized by many. Like others, Lady Gaga too lives both shades of her personality, i.e. good and evil. It is a collection that represents the elements of the alien world with a mix of Gaga’s personality traits.
The mood of the collection was evil-goodness. A person has both “good and bad” within the same body. It is for them to decide which one to keep dominant. Lady Gaga is also famous because of her rebellious nature and her goodness.
And thus began the beginning of a new race; a race within the race of humanity; a race which bears no prejudice, no judgment, but boundless freedom.

“Taking inspiration from Lady Gaga’s famous video, “Born This Way”, the upcoming designers came up with the collection on Avant Garde fashion”
A concept was prepared before deciding the look. Each element was picked up with a thought behind it – the nature and Gaga’s personality were combined together to present the first look. The black garments had cyan, magenta and yellow makeup and headgear while the opposite was followed for the cyan, magenta and yellow combination garments.
The atomic nucleus – An Alien atomic engineer would look somewhat like this. This imagination was converted into outfit by using cassette reel, metal wire frames, foil printed rexine, baskets and studs.
