Festival is something that everyone looks forward to. People look forward to these festivals and enjoy themselves thoroughly. Be it drinking beer during the Oktoberfest or bursting crackers and seeing the Dragon Dance during the Chinese New Year; there are some festivals from around the world that you have to witness at least once in your lifetime.
Here we are going to tell you about those festivals that you have to experience one in your lifetime.
The Rio de Janeiro Carnival, Rio de Janerio, Brazil – It is one the most famous carnival in the world. The first image of the festival which comes in our mind is of the samba dancers and floats. On each day of the festival, there are around 2 million people on the streets. The festival had started way back in the year 1723. The festival happens during the last and the first week of February and March respectively.
Chinese New Year – One of the most popular festivals in not only Asia, but also in the world, Chinese New Year is celebrated with great pomp and show. People celebrate it with dragons, fireworks, flowers and lanterns. It is the most important and significant day of the year for the Chinese. It is also known as the Spring Festival. It is celebrated from the start of the New Year’s Eve and goes on till 15th day of the first month of the Chinese calendar.
Burning Man, Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA – If you are the creative type and want to explore yourself, then there is no other festival better than the Burning Man festival in the United States. Around 50,000 people gather every year to express their individuality to the world. The reason why it is called the Burning Man is because at the end of the festival, and an effigy of a man is burned. The week-long festival is definitely the festival for those who want to get lost in their own world. The festival starts on the first Monday of August and ends on the first Monday of September.
Carnival of Venice, Venice Italy – The festival started around 900 years ago. What makes this festival so special is the fact that people wear masks and are allowed to do anything they want to, without any guilt. During the festival, the whole of Venice comes alive with people wearing masks. Whole nights there are lots of parties and it feels as if you are in a fairy tale.
Oktoberfest, Munich, Germany – Oktoberfest is one of the largest beer festivals in the world. It is held in Munich. It is a 16-day festival which starts from late September and ends during the first week of October. More than 6 million people from around the world attend the festival.
New Year’s Eve, Sydney Harbour, Australia – If you have to go to a New Year’s party, and then you should definitely visit the one that happens at the Sydney Harbour. As the name suggests the event is held every New Year’s eve. There are two main features of the event. There are two firework shows, one is the 9pm Family Fireworks and the other is the Midnight Firework. Many people have said that if you want to see fireworks then the best place is to see them is the Sydney Harbour.
Camel Fair, Pushkar, India – Pushkar is not only famous for its world’s only Brahma Temple, but also for its Camel Fair. More than 50,000 camels are gathered in the small town of Pushkar in Rajasthan. The festival is held for 5 days, where the camels are dressed up, paraded, shaved and even take part in races, after which they are traded. It is a great way to see a traditional Indian festival at its best.
