If there is one thing which India is famous for, it is the amount of variety. We have so many cultures in India, that sometimes we lose track of most of them. Each culture has its own uniqueness. Be it food or dress or the religious customs, Indian cultures provide a mixed bag of everything to everyone who comes to India. From Rajasthan in the west to Arunachal Pradesh in the east and Kashmir in the north, to Tamil Nadu in the south, India is a melting pot of cultures.

Andhra Pradesh, Gongura Pachadi: It is a pickle which is made exclusively in Andhra Pradesh. It is generally eaten with steamed rice, chapatti and sometimes puri. It is also consumed with Hyderabadi Biryani, KoriKoora and Mirchi Salan.

Arunachal Pradesh, Apong:  Apong is a local rice beer and is an excellent combination if consumed with smoked pork and sengmora leaves. It is usually served with rice, but can be eaten with other combinations as well.

Assam, Masor Tenga: It is a sour fish curry which is made from Kajinemu, tomatoes and thekera. The fish which is cooked is usually a freshwater fish. The dish is a bit spicy and also exotic in taste. Pitha is the perfect dessert to go along with it.

Bihar, Litti Chokha: It is a crunchy dish which is generally served with pure ghee. It is consumed in Bihar all year round. Litti is made up of wheat balls that are stuffed with roasted gram flour while chokha is usually made up of mashed potatoes.

Chhattisgarh, Dehrori:  Dehrori is a dessert in the state of Chhattisgarh, which is made during the festival of Diwali. Dehrori is basically fried rice dumplings which has been garnished with nuts and the dumplings are dipped in sugar syrup.

Goa: Vindaloo, Prawn Balchao and xacuti are some popular dishes from the state. But the dish which you must have when in Goa is the Bibinca. The reason why you must have this pudding is because it has 16 layers and is served with ice-cream.

Gujarat, Khandvi: It is a snack which the Gujaratis make. It is made from yogurt and flour. Sesame and mustard seeds, green chili, coconut and coriander powder are just some of the ingredients which are used in the dish.

Himachal Pradesh, Madra: It is a gravy dish made from yogurt, chickpeas, coconut, almonds and raisins. It is a delicious dish and has a good aroma.

Karnataka, Pandi Curry: It is a rich dark pork curry which is usually served with Akki roti. Dishes such as bisi bele bhaat, Kesari Bhaat, Chiroti and Dharwad are also quite popular dishes.

Mizoram, Zu: Zu is a popular native tea of Mizoram. Another popular dish of Mizoram is sawchair. It is a delicacy of rice and raw meat.

Orrisa, Chenna Poda: Chenna Poda is the Indian version of cheesecake. It is made from baked ricotta cheese.

Uttrakhand: Bal Mithai is quite and exotic dessert from the hill state of Uttrakhand. It is made by roasting milk cream with cane sugar. It has a chocolaty fudge at the centre and is coated with sugar.

West Bengal: Bhapa IIlish and Prawn malai curry aren’t the only Bengali dishes which you must have. Daab Chingri is one dish you really cannot miss. The prawn curry which is poured inside a green coconut is something which you are sure to like. The coconut water and the kernel somewhat get infused with the curry and the prawns which give it a very exotic flavour.
