Evolution of the Indian cricket jersey

On January 15, 2014, the latest cricket jersey of Indian team was unveiled at the Melbourne Australia. Although the basic colour of the kit has remained the same, there was a major difference in the manufacturing of the jersey. The new Indian cricket team jersey is made by recycling bottles. Each Jersey is manufactured by recycling 33 plastic bottles. Here we bring you the evolution of the jersey of the Indian cricket team

The first time when coloured jereys were used in a world cup was in 1992. From the light green coloured jersey of Pakistan to the Australian team’s yellow coloured jersey, the idea of coloured jerseys was admired by all. Among them was the dark blue coloured jersey of the Indian cricket team.

The 1996 cricket world cup saw the emergence, Sachin Tendulkar.The semi-finals of the 1996 world cup will always be remembered when the team failed the Little Master. There was a yellow stripe starting from one sleeve of the ended at the other and it was all over the jersey.

The 1999 world cup jersey was quite similar to that of the previous jersey. The difference was that the yellow colour was changed to a more subtle shade of gold, with black borders on the collars and sleeves.

2003 world cup was a dream run for the Indian cricket team. It was resurgence of the Indian cricket team. It also marked the end of the colour yellow. The jersey also had the colours of the Indian flag on it.

The world cup of 2007 was a disaster from India’s point of view this world cup also saw the complete makeover of the Indian team jersey. The colour blue now was in a lighter and India was written with a different font.

Now finally the world cup which India won after a gap of 28 years. The patterns on the jersey were only on the sides. Also the colours blue and orange were of a darker shade.
