A nice tribute to the previous series
If you think that Jurassic World and Jurassic Park will amount to same experience watching a dinosaur movie then you are highly mistaken. Things have changed a lot in between the years. When Jurassic park was released, the world was a simpler place and any special effects on the screen looked good. But over the years technology has evolved quite a lot. Now almost all the movies are so good with CGI that everything looks real. Earlier it was unbelievable, now it is not. After all nothing is better than the first experience.
Jurassic World is set 20 years after Jurassic Park closes. The park is re-opened by the eighth richest man in the world (Any guesses who it will be?) Simon Masrani (Irrfan Khan). He not only owns the park, he is also a pilot and loves to flaunt his lilac suits. He is a person who doesn’t mind spending money if the returns are favourable.
His behaviour perplexes his second-in-command Claire who loves to wear heels and white suits. She doesn’t seem to care that she is in the middle of a jungle. Her job is to try and attract companies to invest in the park.
Masrani has big ideas for the Jurassic World. They hope to make a new species of dinosaur called the Indominus Rex, which he believes will be a crowd puller. He is fully supported by Claire in his plans. However, the game warden of the park, Owen (Pratt) who has raised four velociraptors is against the way Claire treats the dinosaurs. He believes to do things hands-on, rather than watch stuff from a safe distance.
Owen does not particularly like Hoskins, who is a defence contractor. Hoskins believes in making dinosaurs weapons of war by implanting some kind of gadgetry into the dinosaurs’ bodies. Things go wrong when Masrani’s star attraction goes rogue. This dinosaur is a female and is very intelligent. She manages to fool humans at a number of times and goes on a rampage. The day is saved by Owen, Claire and some friendly dinosaurs. The movie scores when it comes to special effects, and since the formula is tried and tested it is a good film to watch.
As far as the acting is concerned, the actors have done a good job in the movie. They have justified their director’s belief in them. Some of the sequences in the film are very engaging. The movie is a must watch for those grew up on the older versions of Jurassic Park. It is a nice way of understanding that how much time has changed. The fight sequences between dinosaurs are just amazing. Although these sequences look out of place, but they are a good add -on to the new film of the franchise.
