One of the leading ladies of Bollywood, Katrina Kaif turns 32 today. On the occasion of her 32nd birthday, we bring you some of the lesser known facts about her.
Boom was not Katrina’s first movie where she was approached. She was first supposed to do Mahesh Bhatt’s Saaya, but because she could not speak in Hindi very well, she was not taken in the film. She then made her debut in 2003 in Boom.
She had charged Rs 75 lakh for her Telugu movie (Malliswari) in 2004. At that time, it was the highest amount ever given to an actress in South Indian Cinema.
In her debut film Boom, producer Ayesha Shroff had changed her second name from Turquotte to Kaif, as she felt that it will be difficult to pronounce. She thought of naming her Katrina Kazi, but since it had a religious overtone to it; they finalized on Kaif.
Katrina Kaif apparently has a few properties in England, but she doesn’t have any properties in India. She currently lives in a rented apartment in Bandra.
Katrina has been living in India for over a decade now, but as she is a British citizen, she works on an employment visa here.
Katrina has done 21 Bollywood films in her career out of which she has appeared with Akshay Kumar the maximum number of times (six films)
Katrina is known to be a very private person hence she is not too much into social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
She is the first Bollywood actor to have a Barbie Doll modelled after her.
She has won 23 awards in her career across all the award ceremonies.
Katrina’s favourite music bands are Radiohead, Muse and Coldplay.
Katrina is also a painter and an avid chess player.
One of her younger sister, Isabel Kaif, has studied in the Lee Strasburg Theatre and Film Institute of New York, the same Institute from where her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor had studied.
