How I Met Your Mother, just not any other show
It has been more than a year since the last episode of How I Met Your Mother was aired on television. For many it was like an end of an era. The characters with their quirks taught us a lot about life. Many people could relate to their daily struggles or their quirky nature. How I Met Your Mother is perhaps one of the most well thought of shows of the decade. It made us laugh, cry and think about certain things in life.
It was just not a show, it taught a lot about life and its ups and downs.
Here we are going to tell you about the lessons that we learnt from the characters of the show
Ted – Good things come with time; you have to wait for it: The show is all about Ted looking for his dream girl, with whom he wants to settle down and start a family. He comes across many girls throughout the series; it is right in the end when he finds his perfect match. He has been with different kinds of ladies (we guess he was taking lessons from Barney) and experienced different kind of relationship with each one of them. The lesson what we learn from Ted’s love life is that you don’t need to search your loved one, you will just find them at unexpectedly.
Lily – Never give up on your dreams: It has been clearly mentioned in the series that how much Lily loves to paint. She even leaves Marshall to pursue her passion, which does not end very well. She became a kindergarten teacher to earn some extra income and also practice her painting during her free time. She even sold some of her paintings to a veterinarian, because the animals would become calm when they used to look at her paintings. Her dream was put on hold when she had a baby boy named Marvin. It was only in the middle of season 8, where she is provided an opportunity to travel as an art consultant. Later she is also given an opportunity to live in Italy and be surrounded by art.
Robin – Learn to roll with punches: From the start of the series to the very end of it, Robin was always focused on her career as a news reporter. She had put her career before everything else. She even went to Japan for a brief period of time. Throughout the series, she had a difficult time balancing her love life and professional life. Even she was on and off relationships throughout the series. What we learnt from her was that no matter how much we plan our lives; there will always be something unexpected which might come up and make a mess of our plans. We should always go with the flow, or at least be a flexible.
Marshall – Always remain a friend: Marshall’s friendship is the epitome of friendship. He is Ted’s best friend and has been with him since their college days. He has stuck with Ted through thick and thin. He is a loyal friend and cares about everyone. He even took Robin to his favourite bar in the city so that she could feel less homesick. He has always given the best advice to people who are around him.
Barney – Enjoy life, no matter how bad the situation is: No other character in the series is as cool and complex as Barney Stinson. He is credited for catch phrases like Legend- WAIT-FOR-IT- dary and Suit –UP. He is also the funniest characters in the series. He is a womanizer and a sex addict. He does anything to get into a lady’s pants. From faking illness to completely changing his persona, he will do anything to get laid. All this stops when he falls for Robin. Later on when he is still the same person, but when he has his daughter, he changes himself. Throughout the series, he is having fun and enjoying himself, no matter how much trouble he is into. He is constantly pulling pranks, making fun of those around him, drinking and having one-night stands. He teaches us the most important lesson in life i.e to enjoy life to the fullest.
