2015 is nearing its end, and it has been a wonderful year as far as long weekends is concerned. 2016 will surely be a year in which people, especially workers will make happy and joyful memories; reason being there a number of long weekends. If you don’t believe us, we will provide you with the details of the long weekends in 2016.

1) New Years Day Weekend:  1st – 3rd January (Friday- Sunday) – What better start to a year than a long weekend. Plan a trip as there are a number of places you can choose from. From Andamans to Rajasthan and Kashmir. You can go anywhere during this weekend.

2) Republic Day Weekend: 23rd – 26th January (Saturday-Sunday, take a leave on Monday) – January is a good time to visit Gulmarg for a ski trip. If you are not the adventure types and can splurge, then you can also attend the Dubai Shopping Festival.

3) Shivratri Weekend: 5th – 7th March (Saturday – Monday) – If you are in a mood for some soul soothing exercise, you can attend the International Yoga Festival from March 1st to 7th at Coorg. If not that, then you can visit any hill station and enjoy the peace and tranquility.

4) Holi/Easter Weekend: 24th – 27th March (Thursday – Sunday) – If you want to celebrate Holi in a different way, then you should definitely go and celebrate your Holi in Mathura. If that doesn’t work for you, then you always have an option of going to Mahabaleshwar and attend the Mapro Strawberry festival.

5) Gudi Padwa Weekend: 8th -10th April (Friday – Sunday) – April is the best time to visit a national park. You can always go to Jim Corbett or the Bandipur National Park. If you are feeling the heat, then you can always head off to one the hill stations.

6) Ambedkar Jayanti/ Ram Navami Weekend: 14th – 17th April (Thursday – Sunday) – This is also the best season to visit the ‘Paradise on earth – Kashmir’.  If you want to have an international experience, then you can visit Japan and see the cherry blossoms bloom.

7) Independence Day Weekend: 13th – 15th August (Saturday – Monday) – If you are the trekking types, then you can visit Valley of Flowers at Uttarakhand.

8) Janamashthmi Weekend:  25th- 28th August (Thursday – Sunday, Take a leave on Friday) – visit Goa and see the Bonderam Festival and enjoy cheap booze and discounted- off season rates. Oh and Ladakh is also not a bad idea either.

9) Ganesh Chaturthi Weekend: 3rd – 5th September, (Saturday – Monday) – Just pack your bags and go to Maharashtra and enjoy Ganesh Chaturthi out there. The atmosphere is totally electric out there.

10) Bakri-Id-Weekend:  10th – 12th September, (Saturday – Monday) – If you are up for exploring the unknown, then you can visit the North-East, especially Meghalaya and Tawang. These places are unexplored so there is a high possibility that you will come across many beautiful places which have remained unexplored.

11) Dussehra/ Durga Puja Weekend: 8th-12th October, (Saturday – Wednesday, Take a leave on Monday) – Since you have a lot of time on your hands in this one, you can either spend time at home or go to places such as Bhutan for trekking.

12) Diwali Weekend: 28th- 30th October (Friday-Sunday) – If international travel is in your mind then you can always visit Turkey. It is beautiful at this time of the year.

13) Guru Nanak Jayanti Weekend: 12th -14th November, (Saturday – Monday) – If there is nothing else to do, just go and eat at a random ‘dhaba’ in Punjab. We are sure that you will be served something special on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

14) Id-e-Milad Weekend: 10th -13th December (Saturday – Tuesday, Take a leave on Monday) – The end of the year is near; you could either go to Bangkok for shopping or immerse in the culture of Rajasthan. Take a trip to Jodhpur and enjoy the rich culture of Rajasthan.
