Maruti Suzuki all set to capture the premium hatchback segment?
In order to capture the premium hatchback segment, Maruti Suzuki Baleno was launched at a starting price of 4.99 lakh for the petrol version and the top-end diesel variant will cost Rs 8.11 Lakh.

The petrol variants of the car will be priced between 4.99Lakh and 7.01Lakh while the diesel variants will cost between 6.16 lakh to 8.11 lakh. The petrol automatic variant, which also features a continuously variable transmission (CVT), is priced at Rs 6.76 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki by launching Baleno directly aims to take on popular products such as VW Polo, Honda Jazz and the Hyundai Elite i20.
Variants
Baleno comes in three segments – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The Delta variant of the car is available with a CVT gearbox. The best part is that all the variants will come with dual front airbags which will be standard. This might just be a huge advantage as rest of the companies offer only one front airbag as standard.

Engine
Baleno is being offered with a 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine, which can be paired to a CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.3-litre diesel engine is solely available with a five-speed manual transmission.
Baleno comes with Apple CarPlay, an initiative in car entertainment system from the global leaders of smartphones. MSI will be the first OEM in India to offer Apple CarPlay. The model also comes with various features including a multi-information speedometer and UV reduction glasses. MSI is eyeing leadership in the premium hatchback segment with Baleno, which will be sold through the company’s premium network of showrooms, Nexa.
Although the hatchback shares the same name of the erstwhile Baleno, there is nothing common between the two models.
The company also plans to launch several models this fiscal, has set a target of achieving two million sales annually by 2020.
