Tell us about your journey from a beauty queen to a Bollywood celebrity.
My journey in India has been life changing – it has changed the way I look at my life and who I am today. I have learned to be grateful for the smaller things in life that I earlier used to take for granted. I have experienced a lot of creative freedom and patience in all aspects of my life. I love India and will forever be grateful for the journey this place has offered me.
Are you in a relationship?
No, I am not dating anyone. Currently I am single and very happy.
Do you look forward to being in a relationship?
Yes, I feel it is an amazing thing to be in love and feel loved in return but right now, my priorities are different. I am getting that love and affection from my mom and dad and my family and I am giving it back to them and that is what is actually driving me.Being an actress you often have to balance hectic schedules which might even spill into the night. The harsh lights of the camera and the make-up must be taking a toll on your skin. How do you keep your skin healthy?
How do you keep your skin healthy?
I thank my genes for great skin and hair. My mantra is to eat right, exercise regularly and religiously following the cleansing-toning-moisturising routine.
Tell us something about your diet?
Take care of yourself by eating right, sleeping right and exercising regularly! These are the only rules I swear by.
What is one beauty secret you would like to share?
Always keep your skin hydrated.
Home remedies are something which always work wonders on the skin and hair. Are there any home remedies which you believe in, when it comes to skin and hair care?
When it comes to my skin I experiment with a lot of home remedies. I often use dahi and honey in a pack to cool and soothe my face. I also use ice packs for my face and eyes as pick-me-ups. I wrap ice cubes in thin muslin or tissue and then place them gently on my cheeks and eyes.
Keeping fit is not only important for cosmetic reasons, but also for your health. When we talk about fitness, what would you say is your fitness regime?
As a child, I was athletic. In school, I was into gymnastics, track athletics and basketball. I wouldn’t sit at home and play with dolls. I would go out with my brother and indulge in adventurous stuff such as terrain climbing.
The only rule to follow: what you eat, you need to burn. I work out for an hour a day. I religiously do power yoga. I alternate with dance – Bollywood, jazz, ballet, R&B.
Who, according to you is the fittest person in the industry?
When I first came into the industry, I was immensely impressed by two people – Malaika (Arora Khan) and Shilpa Shetty.
Are you a gym person?
No,I tried gym, I was also a regular at the gym but it didn’t work for me. It became a bit of bore. Fitness is about having fun. I was not having fun at the gym.
When we talk about designers, every girl has her favourites. Who are yours?
There are so many! I like the newer guys, they add something fresh and fun and young, which is what I love!
What is that one thing that you crave for and can’t have in order to maintain your body?
I don’t have major cravings. I won’t say I will die if I can’t have chocolates.
