A sad copy of its previous version.
It is a rarity in Indian cinema that the sequel is as-good-as the prequel; Pyar Ka Punchnama is no exception. The film revolves around love and relationship, just like the prequel. But where it differs from the prequel is the freshness. It is more or less the same as its prequel, but where it lacks is the direction.
Pyar Ka Punchnama was something everyone could relate to. It was funny and it showed the chemistry between the three friends really well. Everything in Pyar Ka Punchnama 2 seems to be forced upon.
The guys in Pyar Ka Punchnama 2 are older, live in a swanky flat in Delhi and are better-off than the ones in the first movie, but they have the same problem. They show no signs of being wiser and are still unable to manage their so-called love lives.
Only one guy has been retained from the original cast (One reason why people might not be able to relate to the movie. The girls, however, are back and are exactly the same stereotypes as the last time and seem to be more exaggerated and tiresome. One of the girls lets her male’ best friend’ stay at her place, what makes it funny is the fact that she expects her boyfriend to understand. The second one is a gold-digger (she fights for women equal rights). She has a boyfriend who looks after all her expenses and it takes him the length of the entire movie to shut her out of his life. Then there is a third girl who keeps her supposed boyfriend dangling. See it is a typical characterization of women.
As far as the boys are concerned, they are like forever mamma’s boys. They are the victims of the devious girls, who use them. The women reel them in and then string them along to use them for their own advantages. None of the boys have the backbone to come out of the relationship.
The first film was funny; the second one is just trying to be funny.
