Yuvraj Singh does it again

With IPL auction 2015 on its way, day one of the auctions has been nothing short of surprises. Three-hundred and forty-four players are up for the IPL 2015 auctions. The player who managed to steal the limelight is none other than the ‘Prince of Cricket’, Yuvraj Singh. Although, the dashing southpaw’s international career might be on a decline, the franchises have put faith in him yet again. Last year it was Royal Challengers Bangalore, who bought Yuvraj Singh for a record fee of 14 crores.

Record deal for Yuvraj again

This year Yuvraj Singh has been bought by Delhi Daredevils, for a staggering amount of 16 crores.  Singh has emerged as the costliest player so far. The base price of Yuvraj Singh was 2 crores. Both Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore fought a tooth-and-nail battle for the Southpaw, in which Delhi bought him for a fee of 16 crores. Last year Yuvraj Singh broke the record of the highest ever price of 14 crores, this year again he managed to break the record when he was bought by Delhi Daredevils for a sum of 16 crores.

This deal to many cricket enthusiasts came as a shock, as this time around Yuvraj again managed to go for the highest  fee in the history of IPL despite the fact that he has not been in the national side for quite some time now.

Delhi outbids everyone for Yuvraj

At the beginning of the auction, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils were in contention for India’s 2011 World Cup hero. Rajasthan and Punjab took the back seat when the auction crossed the figure of 7crore.

Another player who grabbed headlines on Day of the auction was Dinesh Karthik by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a sum of 10.5 crores. It was the second highest buy of the day. Last year Dinesh Karthik was bought by Delhi Daredevils for a sum of 12.5 crores.
