All set for season 2 of ISL?
The second season of ISL will be commencing on October 3. The various franchisees are almost ready with their combinations and, of course, new combinations. This season will be quite an interesting one, as there will be a number of Indian players who will be playing in the league for the first time. It will be interesting to watch how the tournament shapes. Almost all the teams have had a major reshuffle, so if you are thinking that a particular team is a favourite, then you might be in for a major shock.
Here we bring you a list of players that might change the face of ISL season 2
Juan Calatayud (Atletico De Kolkata) – He was one the most well-known players in the La Liga and is obviously the first choice keeper of the reigning champions. When he was playing for the Spanish club side Hercules, Calatayud managed to keep his sheet clean in 85 of his 244 appearances, which by any standard is respectable. The reason why other sides need to be afraid of him is because he has had a clean sheet against Club football giant, Barcelona.
Arnab Mondal (Atletico De Kolkata) – Mondal is a good defender; the fact that he cleared the ball 141 times in the last season, speaks volumes of his ability as a defender. His position of Centre Back will be of key importance to Atletico De Kolkata if they want to retain the cup.
John Arne Riise (Delhi Dynamos FC)– The formal Liverpool player will be a key player when it comes to the team defence. He is a left-footed player who has shocked the opponents a number of times. We hope to see the magic of his left foot when he plays for Goa.
Sandesh Jhingan (Kerela Blasters FC) – Last season Sandesh was awarded the emerging player of the season and since then he has made enormous strides in the Indian Football scenario. He is a good support when it comes to quick counter attacks. He definitely carries some hope of Kerela blasters for some entertaining football.
Elano Blumer (Chennaiyan FC) – He was one the most popular players in the first season. He also won the Golden Boot and also happens to be Chennai’s marquee player. Last year he scored eight goals and assisted in one. There is no doubt that expectations will be high from Blumer to perform.
Simao Sabrosa (Northeast United FC) – The Portuguese player brings a wealth of experience with him. There is no doubt that his presence will provide a number of goal scoring opportunities for Northeast United FC.
Jackichand Singh (FC Pune City) – His ability to play on both the flanks with relative ease has made him one the most promising rising stars of Indian football. When his auction was going on, there were four teams which wanted him, but finally Pune FC City managed to win the bid.
Sunil Chettri (FC Mumbai) – He missed out last year’s ISL edition, but he won’t do it this year round. He has held the Indian Football team together for quite some time now. He will be one of the mainstay Mumbai team and fans would definitely want to him score goals for his team.
