Jaitley files for a defamation case against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and a few others
Mud-slinging is something which the Indian politics is not new to. The Indian political parties are known for chastising each other. They are like a bunch of crabs who are always trying to bring the other down.
The latest mud –slinging incident which is doing rounds in the news is of Arun Jaitley being dragged into the DDCA fund irregularity. Since the time, it was alleged a lot has happened. Arvind Kejriwal called Arun Jaitley names and for this Jaitley has slammed a defamation case against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and a few other AAP leaders. Jaitley has claimed that the allegations are false and defamatory.
Here are a few key points
The money involved – Jaitley has paid Rs 10 lakh as stamp duty for filing Rs 10 crore defamation suit against Kejriwal and a few others.
The rules – According to the rules, the central government can bear the cost of Jaitley’s litigation because he is a Union Minister. But the finance minister has decided to pay it from his own pocket.
Kejriwal’s lawyer – The quintessential lawyer Ram Jethmalani will defend Kejriwal in the case, also, he won’t be charging any fees.
Jaitley’s lawyer – Jaitley is being represented by Siddharth Luthra, who has earlier served as the Additional Solicitor General of India in the Supreme Court.
Azad Charges against Jaitley – BJP MLA Kirti Azad acted as a mole (well not exactly). He blamed the DDCA officials of awarding tenders to non-existent companies. He also claimed that he was surprised that Jaitley did not file a suit against him.
