Chinese art on Indian apparel

Ashdeen’s Collection At Lfw 2015 Winter/Festive

Inspired by Chinese art and its forms, AshdeenLilaowala’s collection “The Scent of the Orient” was an amazing combination of ParsiGara embroidery and Chinese inspirations at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015. Presenting a line of ethereal lehengas and saris, Ashdeen added the beauty of Chinese art on Indian apparel.

Working around the famed blue and white Chinese Porcelain flora and fauna designs, the delicately embroidered saris were a vision of beauty to behold. Shades of blue and cream highlighted the luxurious chiffon and crepe, while cobalt, burgundy and slate were a great backdrop for the contrasting embellishments.

His creations had amazing borders that featured a floral fantasy of roses, peonies and chrysanthemums along with buds from chinoiserie and Japanese kimonos. Recreating the grandeur of Chinese imperial jackets, the designer worked with silk yarns and added glitter with gold and silver metallic thread to offer an opulent platter of fabulous creations.

The beautifully crafted saris with embroidery placements, which varied from the pallav to borders as well as all over the fabric, were delightful visuals. Cholis too were given the designer touch, as they turned into one button styles, or were long sleeved beauties drenched in pearls. Ombré effects appeared for the red/slate sari with silver roses or with butterfly and florals. The black silk sari was stunning with multi coloured work and was teamed up with a long kurta.
