The Top Chef Awards 2014 saw jaw dropping numbers of the industry’s biggest names turn up to celebrate and award the best in the business, with the awards culminating in Parvez Dewan (Secretary, Ministry of Tourism) presenting the Delhi Gourmet Club’s Lifetime Achievement Award to Executive Chef J.P. Singh of Bukhara.
The other big honour of the evening – the Jiggs Kalra Award for Excellence in Modern Indian Cuisine – was awarded to Shantanu Mehrotra of Indian Accent, by the man himself – Jiggs Kalra, and his son, Zorawar Kalra.
The winners of the Best Pastry Chef of the Year (Five Star and Independent) were Anil Sharma of the Pullman Gurgaon Central Park and independent baker Jaya Kochhar, both of whom were awarded an all-expenses-paid trip by sponsors Elle & Vire (the brand of butter and cream that professional chefs use all over the world), for a three-day bakery programme led by the inimitable Eric Perez at the Macaron School of Training in Bangkok.
