The Haryana state government recently announced its new industrial policy. Since the state of Haryana is primarily an agricultural state, the new policies will aim to boost the small scale agro-based industries in the state. The new policies will focus on the development of micro, small and medium industry in the state.
Haryana is an agrarian state and people have large land holdings. But since the boom of the real-estate sector, many farmers have sold their land holdings to builders for a hefty amount. The promise of money and a better life has compelled a lot of farmers to sell their lands to various real-estate companies. Another trend which is on a rise in Haryana is the fact that the remaining small farmers are approaching various small scale entrepreneurs. The Haryana state government feels that those small and medium entrepreneurs could impart skill development training, especially to those industries that are agro-based.
The Haryana state government also plans to develop agro-based industries in the state in a big way, with the help of the various small and medium entrepreneurs in the state.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also said that the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pushing to remove all the 1,700 obsolete laws, will help the MSME sector to develop throughout the country, as those laws don’t have any relevance in today’s world, and on the contrary, will only act as a hurdle, rather than assist the people.
The central government is already working towards eliminating such laws, and even the state government is identifying such laws, and eliminating them.
Khattar emphasized the importance of the MSME sector, and how it has contributed towards not only the country’s GDP but also provides employment opportunities for around 8.5 crore people.
Over the last few years, the industrial growth in the state has been significantly low except the area near the NCR. This has been due to various reasons.
Haryana is fast becoming the favourite destination for small scale entrepreneurs because of its close proximity to Delhi. The new policy will ensure that the state government takes care of every district and every block which will fall under the state’s new industrial policy. Also as the small scale industries will play a major role in the development, because of the employment generation.
