Abraxas NU caught up with Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor when they were in the capital to promote their new film Shaandaar.
How was your experience working with Shahid?
Alia: It was a wonderful experience working with Shahid, Shahid’s sister and Pankaj sir. Shaandaar is kind of a fairytale movie for me; it is about a destination wedding and it was fun filming Shaandaar.
You are already an established actor. How was your experience working with a junior for the first time?
Shahid: When we started shooting, it didn’t feel like we were meeting on the set for the first time. I agree Alia is a junior, but she is a fantastic actor. I’m glad that I got to work with Alia in the film and we’re good friends now.
What was it like working with your sister?
Shahid: Being from a family of actors, they get into the character a lot, so everything on the set was very professional. It was nice to see her all grown up and taking things seriously. I am really proud of her for that.
From the trailer, it seems like your character is inspired from Jab We Met and we all know that you are a big fan of KareenaKapoor. How different is the character from the other movie?
Alia: I don’t think that my character has any kind of similarity with KareenaKapoor in Jab We Met. I think the only similarity is that Shahid has worked in both the films. Shaandaar is a completely different film.
What changes have you seen in yourself since you started your career?
Alia: I started when I was 18 and now I am 22, so the journey till now has been incredible. It is that growing period where one day I feel older and on the other I feel like a child, but in totality, I am the same. So I am enjoying every phase of my life.
What was it like working with your father?
Shahid: Scary! I was very intimidated at the beginning with the fact that I had to share screen space with him. But at the same time it was a big opportunity for me to act with him. I was really excited that I got to share screen space with my father, it’s been one of my biggest wishes. He is like a child, he’ll keep asking you if he has done better and things like that. Working with him was fun.
People start expecting more from you after you deliver a hit. Your comments.
Shahid: I am enjoying the journey, so I don’t think it matters. Yes, people start expecting more from you after you release a hit film, but I think people will like the kind of films I am doing now.
Alia, what would you say about your journey?
Alia: I think I have been lucky enough to have worked with so many talented directors. The characters that I have played in my recent filmsa are very different from one another. So there’s no pressure at all as each and every movie that I have done and am doing have different characters.
